University of Tasmania (Incorporating the Australian Maritime College, the Tasmanian Aquaculture and Fisheries Institute and the Tasmanian Institute of Agricultural Research)

The University of Tasmania was officially founded on the 1st January in 1890 making it one of the oldest universities in Australia, yet, the youngest as in 1991 the University merged with the Tasmanian State Institute of Technology in Launceston to form a "new" University of Tasmania.

The Australian Martime College, the Tasmanian Aquaculture Fisheries Institute and the Tasmanian Institute of Agricultural Research are also part of the University of Tasmania and therefore the Australian Seafood Cooperative Research Centre.
